Background:

My interest in psychiatry began at an early age when my brother was diagnosed with a severe mental illness. I witnessed firsthand the stigma and social isolation faced by patients and their families, which inspired me to pursue a career in psychiatry during my medical education. Throughout my professional journey, I have had the privilege of working with and learning from many esteemed mentors and colleagues at renowned mental health institutions, including South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, East London NHS Foundation Trust, Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, and Queen Mary University.

I believe psychiatry is evolving, and in the near future, its scope will extend beyond societal, cultural, and medical boundaries. It is no surprise, then, that Eastern practices such as yoga, mindfulness, and tai chi are becoming integrated into mainstream Western mental health care. Having studied psychiatry and medicine in India and later expanding my knowledge in the UK, I feel uniquely positioned to integrate a variety of approaches when treating mental health conditions.

My long-term goals are to promote mental health and well-being across diverse populations, including various cultural groups and the LGBTQIA+ community.

In addition to my professional interests, I am passionate about travel and exploring different cultures. I also enjoy cooking Indian cuisine for my friends and family.

Outside of my clinical work, I actively participate in two LGBTQIA+ groups and lead monthly wellbeing support sessions.
